I stayed at The Saffron for 3 nights and enjoyed the kindness of the stuff and the delicious food from the restaurant. It is a family run Guest House. Stunning building and comfortable rooms with typical furniture.The staff is very friendly and helpful, they can provide all sort of information about Colombo and the surrounding. Great food, with be personal touch. Great curry!

Very quiet location in Colombo, peaceful and tranquil.
Hot water seemed to have been adjusted in such a way as to keep the water tepid.

Anthony and his wife are kind, helpful and very knowledgable about Sri Lanka. Food was delicious and the rooms are clean and large.
The only gripe was regarding the water pressure. It was very weak making it hard to wash hair.

The best thing is family like atmosphere. Staff was caring. The guest house owners (Anthony n his wife) were cooperative and guided a lot about places in srilanka. we also hired a van of anthony's brother for visiting other cities. Van was comfortable n driver was very caring.
Away from city center and good shopping areas but it was manageble. Quite far from airport.

The Saffron hotel has the most beautiful garden settings, it feels like being in your own little paradise. It is very secluded and has a very relaxed environment despite being at the centre of Colombo which is a very busy city. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made me feel very much at home. I also very much appreciated the friendly pick-up and drop-off service that I received.
It is 1 and a half hour's drive from the airport on a very busy road.

The informal and friendly atmosphere, the price is correct. I stayed only one night so that put things into perspective
difficult to find, i had a room "without" any view, wifi is there but has very bad quality.

A mediocre place and extremely poor value for money. Too far from anything of importance. A drab room that was not serviced. Very tiny TV and no desk for a laptop. Breakfast, a carefully allocated offering was extremely slow to arrive and carefully rationed...exactly 1 sachet of instant coffee and one banana per person. The worst though was unreliability. I organised with the owner for an early morning tuktuk to catch a 6 am train. She also promised to provide a take-away breakfast. At 5 am as arranged....nothing. It was not until 5:25 we were able to raise staff and make a mad dash for the railway station. I am still awaiting an apology.

Very clean, fast WiFi, great hotel staff, good food, tours organised, supermarket close by, quiet neighbourhood.
Its a bit far from Colombo City but a Took Took will get you just about anywhere you want to go for less than $3 in about 30min.

The owner Anthony and his beautiful wife are very warm and welcoming. They take time to make sure guest feel comfortable. I would 100 % recommend the saffron for people wanting to explore Colombo. Anthony knows a lot of places in Sri Lanka.
The GPS coordinates are incorrect. It's not the same location as in Booked.net
